Wildlife
Wildlife abounds in and around Egmont. Be prepared to encounter many varieties of birds such as Bald Eagles, Ravens, Crows, Gulls, Geese, Ducks, Blue Herons, Robins, Hummingbirds, Chickadees, Finch, Sparrows, Swallows, Starlings, Woodpeckers, Stellar’s Jays (British Columbia’s Provincial bird) and Tweety Birds ![]()
As far as four legged animals, we occasionally see Elk, Blacktail Deer, Black Bears, Coyotes, Raccoons, Mink, Otters, Weasels and Squirrels.
Seals abound in the area and the occasional Sea Lion will surface unexpectedly, surprising unwary kayakers or boaters. Whales have recently been seen in the area and Pacific White Sided Dolphins frolic in the inlets.
Egmont and area is a seafood lover’s delight with clam beaches, oyster beds, Rockfish and Lingcod within boating distance. Scuba divers find the area a fascinating marine life mecca.
